Memeit — Last updated: May 10, 2026
Memeit ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Memeit mobile application and related services (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App. It is written to be accurate to our actual data practices and to comply with applicable data protection laws including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Google Play's User Data policy.
We collect the minimum information necessary to operate Memeit. The categories below reflect what the App actually transmits to our servers and to the third parties listed in Section 5.
When you create an account, we collect:
The App allows you to create, share, and interact with comedy cards, packs, and chains. The following content you create or share is stored on our servers:
You can delete individual cards and comments from within the App. Deleting your account removes your profile and content from our servers (see Section 7).
To deliver push notifications (e.g., friendship requests, group card invites, when someone shares a card with you), we collect and store:
The FCM token is provisioned only after you grant the notification permission on Android 13 or higher. If you deny or revoke notification permission, we do not collect or store the token. The token is unregistered when you log out or delete your account.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how users interact with the App. Google Analytics may collect:
We have configured Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled, so your full IP address is not stored by Google. We do not transmit personal identifiers such as your email or username to Google Analytics. Google Signals (cross-device tracking) is disabled.
For clarity, we do not collect:
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
We do not use your information for behavioral advertising, ad targeting, or profiling outside the App.
Memeit is a social comedy platform. Content you create is intended to be shared with other users. Depending on the action you take inside the App:
Once you share content with another user, that user may retain a copy of the content in their App even after you delete your account or the original card.
Memeit relies on a combination of editorial supervision, automated provider safety filters, and user-driven reporting to keep content within our Terms of Service:
If you encounter content you believe violates our Terms of Service, please use the in-app Report function.
We do not sell your personal information. We share specific categories of data with the following third parties solely to operate the App:
| Third party | Data shared | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google (Sign-In) | OAuth handshake; we receive your email, profile name, and Google subject ID back from Google | Authentication |
| Apple (Sign-In) | OAuth handshake; we receive an identity token and (optionally, on first sign-in) your name and email | Authentication |
| Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Your device receives an FCM token from Google; we send push payloads through Google's servers to your device | Push notifications |
| Google Analytics 4 | Pseudonymous interaction events and device metadata, with IP anonymization enabled | Usage analytics |
| Google Fonts | Your IP address and user agent receive web fonts from Google's CDN | App appearance |
| AI content providers | When you generate content in the Studio, the prompt you submit is forwarded by our backend to AI providers (which may include providers such as Kling, Grok, and Anthropic) to generate the requested output. Where commercially possible we use these providers under terms that limit retention of your prompts. | AI content generation |
| Cloud hosting providers | Underlying cloud infrastructure (Hetzner Cloud) processes data on our instructions to host the App's servers and content | Hosting and content delivery |
Other than the categories above, we do not share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. We do not share information with advertising networks, data brokers, or marketing partners.
Our infrastructure and certain third parties listed in Section 5 are located outside the European Economic Area (including in the United States). When we transfer personal data outside the EEA we rely on appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed in countries with data protection laws different from your country of residence.
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time from within the App: open your Profile, tap Settings, then Delete Account, and confirm. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, your cards, your comments, your friendships, and your push notification token from our servers. Backups containing your data are overwritten on our standard backup rotation, typically within 90 days.
Web-based deletion request. If you no longer have access to the App, you may also request deletion of your account and data by emailing privacy@memeit.net from the address associated with your account, or by visiting https://memeit.net/data-deletion.html.
Content shared with others. Content you have shared with other users (cards you sent into packs or chains) may continue to exist in those recipients' copies of the App and is not automatically removed when you delete your account. This is inherent to a sharing-based App and is consistent with how other social platforms operate.
Analytics data. Pseudonymous Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention policy configured in our Google Analytics property and is not linked to your account once your account is deleted.
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Residents of the European Economic Area have these rights under the GDPR. California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@memeit.net. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law (typically 30 days under GDPR).
We protect your information using:
No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to keep your device operating system up to date.
Memeit is rated for users aged 16 and older in line with our Google Play and Apple App Store content rating. The App is not designed for or directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as soon as we become aware.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact privacy@memeit.net and we will take prompt action.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you within the App or by email, and we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this Policy. Continued use of the App after the effective date of an updated Policy constitutes acceptance of the changes.
